Event Details

Asset management trends towards passive index strategies and corresponding cost savings. Fidelity has launched its first zero commission fund – others will follow. This development is accompanied by a desirable increase in transparency. The effects on the industry include the creation of largely automated industry giants and further margin compression.

Niche strategies will remain profitable, however, and alpha will still exist where value is added. In a world where passive herd behavior becomes more widespread, contrarians will be able to identify value pockets. In this role, engaged investors will support the creation of sustainable shareholder value. Active investors and index funds are therefore both: competitors as well as natural allies.

Andreas Weigelt and Samuel Meyer, will present the state of the industry, elaborate on current developments in the activist investor segment, and provide real-life engagement examples from their work as engaged value investors in listed small- and mid-cap companies across Switzerland.
