On 21 and 22 January 2020, the 22nd edition of Switzerland’s largest financial fair will take place at StageOne in Zurich Oerlikon under the motto “Traditional Values in a Digital World“.   The topics range from “Modern Monetary Theory” to “How can Swiss Pension Funds use their Leeway in Asset Allocation?” Additionally, CFA Institute CEO Margaret Franklin will make a keynote address entitled “Broken Ceiling, Leadership in an uncertain world.” 

Once again, FINANZ’20 is aimed exclusively at professional investors where high-calibre representatives from business, finance, research and politics will be present. In addition, various financial associations will be offering continuing education seminars at FINANZ’20.

Attendance is by invitation or ticket purchase (CHF 250). 

For the first time, CFA Society Switzerland will participate at the Swiss Finance Fair, to host two events:

    Jian Shi Cortesi is an Investment Director at GAM Investment Management. She is responsible for the GAM China Evolution Fund and the GAM Asia Focus Fund. Over the past two decades, she has worked in China, the United States and Switzerland. The funds she manages have won the Lipper Fund Awards for the best Asia fund (2019) and best China fund (2017). She was nominated for Fund Manager of the Year by the Women in Investment Awards (2018), and nominated for Citywire’s Best Fund Manager Awards for China Equity (2017). Jian Shi Cortesi holds a Bachelor degree from Beijing Foreign Studies University in China and an MBA from the University of Tennessee in the United States. She is a CFA Charterholder and a board member of the CFA Switzerland.

    Julien joined UBP in November 2017, as an equity technology specialist where he manages several certificates, notably one dedicated to artificial intelligence. He started his career in 2008 at FrontPoint Partners part of Morgan Stanley in London, then joined LombardOdier Investment Managers in 2010 and more specifically, the Global Technology franchise part of the long short multi-strat 1798, as a technology analyst and pm. The technology team notably received the Lipper award of the best technology funds in 2014 over 3 years in 5 countries and in whole Europe. Julien joined Indosuez in 2015, also as a technology specialist. Julien is a graduate of French Business school ESSEC.

    Margaret Franklin, CFA, leads CFA Institute and its more than 170,000 members worldwide in promoting the highest standards of education, ethics, and professional excellence in the investment profession. She assumed her role in September 2019 and has more than 25 years of investment and wealth management experience. Before joining CFA Institute, Margaret led International Wealth Management for North America and was president of BNY Mellon Wealth Management, Advisory Services in Canada. She also served as a board member of BNY Mellon Trust Company (Cayman). Margaret joined BNY Mellon in 2016. Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Margaret held multiple senior management positions, including president of Marret Private Wealth and COO of Marret Asset Management, a credit and hedge fund asset manager in Toronto. During that six-year tenure, Margaret had direct oversight of all aspects of the private wealth business. Prior to joining Marret, Margaret was a partner with KJ Harrison & Partners. Margaret began her career in the institutional business and has worked with pension plans, endowments, foundations, and government agencies at State Street Global Advisors, Mercer, and Barclays Global Investors. She previously served as chair of CFA Institute Board of Governors and is a former president of the CFA Society Toronto Board. She is a founding member of the CFA Institute Women in Investment Initiative, a past recipient of the Alfred C. Morley Distinguished Service Award in 2014, and a member of its Future of Finance Content Council. She is also a member of the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation Board. Margaret earned a Bachelor of Administration in Economics from McMaster University in Ontario. She is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Society Toronto.
