Event Details

The outlook on risk and return of commodity markets can form the basis of portfolio construction.  How do investment managers view the role of energy and metals in an investment portfolio?

Erik Norland will explore the current economic cycle covering potential impact on global commodity portfolios.  Areas of discussion to include:

  • The sell-off in oil late 2018 triggered a surge in implied volatility. What lies ahead for the market amid concerns over slowing global growth?
  • Are you preparing for a potential recession? Which uncorrelated products & asset classes can be used by institutional investors?
  • Which asset classes do best in rising volatility environments?
  • How the world’s regional natural gas markets are globalizing.
  • Which economic factors drive the price of gold?
  • How do the internal dynamics of the US energy markets influence the global price of oil?
  • How strong is China’s influence on the demand for energy, metals and agricultural goods?
